In collaboration with Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd., Social cooperation program on innovation for construction, operation and maintenance of floating offshore wind energy system has been established within UTokyo International Collaborative Research Organization on Floating Offshore Wind Energy and Related Technologies (UT-FloWIND). The social cooperation program is scheduled to run for approximately five years, from May 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031.

By bringing together the expertise and technologies of academia and industry, we conduct research and development on the design, construction, and stable operation of floating offshore wind turbines and also promote the development of highly skilled professionals.

The research and development activities conducted under this social cooperation program are as follows:

• Theme 1:
Development of systems designs that improves overall construction efficiency and resilience by taking into account the meteorological and oceanographic conditions of Japanese coastal waters
• Theme 2:
Development of optimal designs that consider all phases of floating offshore wind farms, from construction to operation
• Theme 3:
Development of a digital twin model for meteorological and oceanographic conditions in Japanese coastal waters
